The Hunger Games is set to be one of the most awaited flicks that are set to be released next year. The upcoming science fiction film is based on the novel of the same title written by Suzanne Collins. The young adult book, which was in Publishers Weekly’s Best Books of the Year list and a New York Times Notable Children’s Book of 2008, is the first installment of the Hunger Games trilogy, followed by Catching Fire in 2009, and Mockingjay in 2010. After its success, Lionsgate Entertainment has bought the rights to bring the book to the big screen.
The studio is busy rounding up the cast to bring life to the characters of the book. The casting coup has been working for months to choose the perfect actors to play the roles. And now, a few more names have been chosen to be part of the cast. Toby Jones, Amber Chaney, Nelson Ascencio, and Kimiko Gelman are relatively unknown actors that are set to explode when the film gets released next year. Their names were revealed by Lionsgate on their official twitter account. Jones, who is probably best known for voicing Dobby the house elf on the Harry Potter series and channeling Truman Capote in Infamous, will be joining the cast as the bombastic arena announcer Claudius Templesmith. Chaney, who appeared in several TV shows like Meet the Browns and Somebodies, will have a non-speaking role Avox Girl. Ascencio, who worked as an actor and writer on the defunct comedy show MadTV, will be playing the tender-hearted member of the prep team for Katniss Everdeen. And Gelman will also be playing another member of Katniss’ prep team named Venia. Gelman has been previously on several TV shows like Rags to Riches, The West Wing, and Beverly Hills 90210.
The four actors will be joining the ranks of the all-star ensemble inlcuding rock star Lenny Kravitz, Liam Hemsworth, Woody Harrelson, Willow Shields, Josh Hutcherson, Paula Malcomson, Elizabeth Banks, Wes Bentley, Stanley Tucci, Isabelle Fuhrman, Alexander Ludwig, and Oscar nominated actress Jennifer Lawrence (Winter’s Bone) who has been chosen to play the lead character Katniss Everdeen. The movie will be directed by Gary Ross, who is best known for his works Pleasantville, Seabiscuit, and A Tale of Despereaux. The Hunger Games is set to be released on March 23, 2012.
